I've seen the statue a few times - first was in April of 2004, second was a year later, and then in May of 2010 (when picture was taken).

My first visit to New York City with my family, I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from plane window as we were landing at the airport. On our arrival in NY we did most of the tourist attractions, naturally visitng Lady Liberty was on that list. After a boat ride to the island we finally get to see what its like up close and in person.

2 visits, once in 2011 with my girls, and again in 2014 with my boys. The lines were long for the boat and tickets were pricey, but it was worth the trip to see the statue up close.

First all if you want to go all the way up to the crown book your reservations months in Advance. I didn't know this until I was already in New York so I didn't get to go up in the crown but I did get up to the pedestal so it was still a great experience. I reserved pedestal tickets through the Statue Cruises website and this includes a ferry ride from either Liberty Park (New Jersey) or Battery Park (New York). Take note of where you are and which Park you need to depart from and how to get there. The ferry then takes you to Liberty Island, where there is the Statue and a museum. If you are going up to the Pedestal or crown do not lose your tickets. You show them before you pass through security check point before getting on the ferry and you need to show them again on the island if you want access to the pedestal or crown. I almost lost the tickets in the security check point. It's set up like security at the airport where you go through metal detectors and put your things in a bin to be x-rayed. Keep your tickets in your hand or put it in your bag. If it wasn't for one particular staff member going out of his way to find the tickets for me we would have just had access to the grounds of the island.

The ferry ride was fairly quick. I got some night shots of the city from the sea and shots of Liberty and Ellis Island. On the island, along with a museum, there is a cafe. We stopped to have lunch there and then we went up to the statue. You can't take bags up into the statue so there are lockers for you to rent and put them in.

If you go to New York, you definitely have to see The Statue of Liberty, it was a better experience than going up in the Empire State building and so much cheaper. Your tickets also include a stop at Ellis Island where you can visit the museum there as well.

For the Statue of Liberty, you have to take a cruise from either Battery Park (Lower Manhattan) or New Jersey. You have to book for tickets at least a few days beforehand just to be on the safe side, especially if you want to get to the crown of the lady. I was lucky that there were no long lines to get on the cruise when I went, because I was told that the lines can get as long as 2 hours on really busy days.

The tour and the museum really helped me get to know the lady so much, so much more than the celebrity that I saw on the TV often. It was definitely one of my highlights seeing this statue that symbolizes so much to those who dreamt.

We caught the ferry and was able to see it at sunset which was beautiful. I couldn't imagine a better setting to see her in all her glory.

It wasn't as big or as clean as I thought it would be, but I enjoyed the experience.

Took a boat ride out and circled around the statue but couldn't go up on the island for they were restoring it. It was very magical for I couldn't believe I was seeing THE Statue of Liberty.

I gave the rating a 4 for I couldn't physically touch or stand on the statue's island but the nice little facts here and there on the boat ride was nice.

A sight to behold up close and personal, and a must see if you are a tourist in New York.

To be honest, I wasn't too impressed. I don't particularly like cities and human related things when compared to nature though, so that's probably why.

When I went to America with my best friend in the summer of 2016, we visited New York for the day with her dad as we wanted to experience it as it wasn't too far away from where we were staying. While we were in New York we decided to get a multiticket which gave us access to Liberty Island and Ellis Island with a boat tour. This is one of the best experiences I have ever had with such a magical feeling when visiting there. You always see it on TV but never expect to see it in real life and it really is breath taking. I can't even express how amazing it was seeing it in person and being in front of one of the most famous buildings in the world but it is definitely worth visiting as you'll never experience anything like it. Truly amazing.
