Saw them during the middle of the night from the hotel parking lot in Girdwood Alaska on a heli-boarding trip for my 40th birthday. Barely visible to the naked eye but managed to capture them on camera.

While in Tromsö on our first tour we went aurora borealis hunting, also known as northern lights hunting. It was cloudy so we did not see what we expected, but it was still magical. The next night we went to a local cemetery, where we could find darkness, because seeing the northern lights requires to get away from lights. We saw it again, but much better because there was no clouds in the sky.

Spent five days in Iceland over Thanksgiving.  We did the warm baths and bright nights tour.  On the way to the baths we were told that the weather was not cooperating for viewing the Northern Lights.  On the way back, we managed to get a half hour of clear sky and saw the most amazing nighttime display.  Truly blessed..

Definitely wasn't as vivid as this picture, but it was beautiful nonetheless. It was at camp in Minnesota when I was young, I remember the thunder storms and the northern lights! Definitely worth getting up north and out of the city whenever you have a chance to do this.

I first saw the northern lights on Lake Laberge in Yukon Territory. We had a bonfire on ice and sat there. It was beautiful. The lights just dance across the sky and are pretty mesmerizing as they are always changing. I'll never forget that experience.

Traveled to Iceland on 14th November 2014 with activities planned for everyday of the trip. Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights hunting on Saturday, Golden Circle on Sunday and horse riding over lava fields on Monday. Wasn't lucky enough to get a photo of the northern lights but we saw them! An unforgettable experience, difficult to describe as the atmosphere is something you really have to experience to understand. Iceland is the most beautiful country on earth, it was truly the trip of a lifetime, I can't wait to go back!

Whilst my photos don't exactly do it justice the lights were so bright and clear. Sadly my camera didn't want to work due to aperture so these were taken with my phone. I'm now kitted out with proper equipment so the next time I go I'll get some amazing photos
