Interesting. Where would you like to live?
Gabrielle Cadenne on May 21, 2011
I'd like to live somewhere in Canada or Australia. I'd probably still visit the US, but I definitely don't want to live here any longer than I have to.

After spending a year in the State's, I don't blame you. Take a look at British Columbia, Canada. Very nice. Heck, it's all nice. gl.

Title reminded me of Kurt Russell's Escape From New York. Therefore I demand that the first leg of your journey be enacted as Snake Plissken.

Try Amsterdam, The Netherlands, or Copenhagen, Denmark. They're both very cosmopolitan, great physical and social infrastructure and both have a pretty awesome, open-minded culture. (no, I'm not only saying that because I have a case of home-town bias in the case of The Dam ;)).
I lived in the States, Brazil, Spain, Denmark, right now in Shanghai and visited a bunch of places with friends from the respective countries (so got a little bit of a feel of the different cultures). While the most obvious downside of North-Western Europe is the weather, I can honestly say that Amsterdam and Copenhagen are some of the nicest places to live in, when looking at the overall package.
One last thing, all places have their pros and cons, so the surest way to be happy is loving where you are and focusing on the positives.
I'm in China right now and that ability is giving me an amazing experience, while I find that some of the expats here get stuck on the downsides of such a different culture, losing some valuable 'life time'.
I hope you find a place where you are happy and can live a fulfilling life.

P.S.: Consider that the States needs positive and open-minded people, to prevent the country from falling into conservative-Republican-driven chaos. Maybe there is something you can do to help improve the States instead of leaving?
Just my 02 cents.
P.P.S.: Snake Plissken +1

I'd recommend Britain. Somewhere not in London but maybe not too far? I wish to live in Guildford someday.. Nice countryside too! Also try Copenhagen? A very nice place. Or Canada! Good luck! Some family members moved to Australia and say its amazing there.
Australia, England, Copenhagen, Canada
