With a hand crank ice cream maker, right?

Absolutely.

you can also do it with a 2 ziplock bags or 2 coffee cans. A large and a small of either. The ingredients go in the small one on then you place it into the large one and pack with ice and salt. Then shake till ya get ice cream.

Nothing beats the taste of home-made ice cream!! We have a Williams-sonoma machine that makes it very successfully but it is such an effort I haven't done it lately.

I also remember making it with an old hand-crank machine at my Grandparents house using icicles formed off the gutters in the winter time and rock salt :) Thinking back.. I guess that was kind of gross (ha!) but at the time was the best thing ever and a great memory :)

best ice cream in the world is home-made. My family has been doing it for generations. My family still makes it every summer. My dad dragraces with a traveling club, and we usually make ice cream at the track a few times each year. Everybody goes crazy over it.
Blackberry is my favorite, but then we've always picked our own berries for that too.
Hand-crank is the best. Electric motors never freeze it hard enough.

Best thing in the world and so rewarding. I've had great success with the electric machines just have to freeze for a while once it's done. The hand crank ones take way too much salt and ice.
If you're doing the cans or bags or the balls that they have for it now I seriously suggest have hyper children around. Can take a very long time. But it's a great treat if you're out for an overnight camping trip. Just cook up the base before you go.
