Having no kickboxing experience, I checked into Sinbi Muay Thai, Phuket on week 7/8 of my South-East Asia holiday.  After 7 weeks of eating a LOT of food and drinking a LOT of beer, I was not in the best shape!  However after day 1 I was back in the game.

Muay thai kickboxing is one of the most lethal martial art forms... every part of your body is a target and you can elbow people in the head, kick them in the shins, it's a pretty aggressive sport!  However I was there for more fitness goals, so attended 2 sessions a day of 2.5 hours.

Sessions start with skipping gfor 10 mins (and you're training around 33 degrees celsius weather, so sweating up a storm!), stretching, technique work, pad work in the ring (with one of the awesome trainers), bag work, kicking, punching, situps, pushups, etc.  It sounds intense but I loved it!  I was only there for a week, but there were loads of people who were staying for 3 weeks up to 12 months.

@Scot - it was intense! I woke up on the second morning and every single muscle was aching!!

@Shelldon - haha it's good fun isn't it.. fortunately we didn't nominate to 'fight' so we just got beaten up by punching bags :)
