In jungle areas around the world, especially in "eco-tourism" areas, you can often ride a zipline through the forest canopy. Some of these are up to a quarter mile long, and cross gorges hundreds of feet deep. Here's one in Costa Rica:
In June 2010, our family took a trip to Kauai and had an amazing experience. All four of us went ziplining with Outfitters Kauai. At age 7, our son was the youngest person on the trip. And our mother was the oldest. While it may look a bit dangerous, these ropes and cables are capable of supporting an entire car - your body weight is nothing to the equipment.
The experience goes by pretty quickly - each ride is around 45 seconds, and we only got five rides each on a 3-hour adventure. But those are some of the most intense 45 seconds of your life!
