A couple of summers ago, we visited friends near Denver Colorado. While they were there, they said that they would drive us to the top of Pike's Peak. Great! I thought. I don't know what I was thinking - a 4 lane road to the top or what - but I never thought that it would be the narrow, barely two lane road with terrifying drop offs and no shoulder to speak of. I made it to the top - barely. I never knew that I was afraid of heights until that trip. I thought that I was going to come out of the car a couple of times - and I was nearly sitting in my husband's lap before we got to the top of the mountain. I did it once - never again! Whew - glad this one is behind me! It's beautiful up there - well worth the trip up, but I don't think I could handle going up again.
Before we started up the mountain - I am still smiling....

I made it - forced myself to smile but dreaded the ride down.

One area where the road was wide - they race cars on this part! They are crazy!
