In 1997 I rode a motorcycle across the country, camping wherever I ended up. One of the highlights was laying a sleeping bag down in the Arizona desert. Couldn't even see where I was. When I woke up, I was staring into cactus needles - got lucky! Couldn't believe how cold it got - the temperature absolutely plummets at night in the desert.
