Might as well just stay home. This is an insult to camping

We find in Scouting while Canada and USA 'rough it' many scouting troops from Europe do the glamping bit. Certainly a constrast to what we think of as camping on this side of the Atlantic.
Chris Harasta on Apr 26, 2013
Woah, European scouts don't 'rough it'? Weird. That's pretty much what made camping cool!
ZombieGirl on Apr 26, 2013
The point of camping is roughing it out in the wilderness. This one time I slept on a tarp with no tent just a sleeping bag under the stars. It even started raining lightly and thunder/lighting storms. I didn't run for cover (my truck) though,I embraced nature.I guess though I am use to it being a country girl from Montana/Oregon! We are so spoiled/don;t appreciate nature these days it almost makes me sick! lol

Funnily enough I'm going 'glamping' tonight in a wigwam thing with heating and electricity. I see it as a different thing from camping (which I've also done). I think it will be fun and must admit the fact that I can plug in my hair straighteners makes it a winner to me lol. I'm going to do some camping in the real sense of the word during the summer when it's a bit warmer :)

What we European people find camping is sitting with your tent or caravan on a camping site full of people, walking with your toilette roll down to the toilettes, barbequeing other stuff like that. Compared to what Americans call camping we do it a lot less 'wilder'. But it is also really nothing like glamping. Ofcourse not every European who goes camping does it this way but monst of them do especially families and older people. I can find my way in both ways of camping even though I have never done it in American style. I do know that when European people go camping outside of Europe they do go camping like Americans I guess because there is more opportunity to do it.

Im not American so i don't know what their camping is like. Im British and have done the camping in a tiny tent, roasting marshmellows etc! Just thought it would make a nice break instead of a hotel :)

I'm just back from a night of glamping, I loved it. Camping and glamping are two completely different experiences. People should try both :)

Hope you've had a great time!
